Why is deadwood so important to our ecosystem? How can water buffalo contribute to biodiversity and what the military history to do with conservation? These and other questions are answered by the Natural Heritage Cruises in audio tours of the areas of the National Natural Heritage.

A map gives an overview of many areas of the national natural heritage. This is largely to former military buildings, which have a particularly high biodiversity because of their history. Many rare and worth protecting animal and plant species found there their habitat. To permanently secure these areas with large forests, open land and wetlands for conservation, they are transferred from central government to the states, conservation organizations and the German Federal Environmental Foundation that they maintain to exacting nature conservation guidelines and develop.

With the Heritage Cruises you can experience the unique landscape and diversity of the natural heritage. In selected areas, where there is no danger of military use, we take you on designated paths through nature and explain at individual stations, like a Moor arises why bats in former bunkers feel as comfortable and as the carnivorous sundew his name came.
